Annual events such as the Berlin Marathon, Karneval der Kulturen and many others are also big attractions.

Another unique feature of Berlin is the ring of forests and lakes surrounding the city. The nearest can be reached by S-Bahn (city rail transport) in 20 minutes and offer opportunities for boating, swimming, walking and relaxing (the city's public transport system, consisting of over- and underground rail systems, trams and an extensive bus network, is very efficient and is supplemented by a plentiful supply of taxis, both motorized and pedal-powered).

Berlin possesses an enormous range and variety of restaurants, cafés, bars and clubs. Its nightlife has long been legendary and this is one property of the city that - amid all recent upheavals - has not changed.
